Reflecting on Reconnecting

Back in 2021, The Good Business Club returned to in-person networking around the UK, giving good business owners the chance to reconnect with like-minded people in their local community.

Tash Morgan-Etty- a brand strategist and wordsmith at writerabbit.com - came along to our very first Reconnect event in Leeds, and here’s her thoughts about the experience:

“I was keen to attend the Leeds Reconnect event mainly because I knew that Sara and Kate from the Good Business Club, as well as three of my clients, would be there. I figured it would be a great opportunity to meet them all in person for the first time as I'd only ever seen them on Zoom.

I felt super excited about it beforehand because I knew that there was a strong possibility everybody there, even those I didn't know, would be people who share my values, at least to some extent. And I wasn't disappointed.

Reconnect Leeds actually got me feeling a little emotional if I'm honest. Within minutes of chatting to the first few people there, it was as if I had found my "tribe": genuine down-to-earth people who care about having a positive impact on the world. There was none of the pretense, pigeon-chesting, or pushy salesy-ness of typical mainstream business networking events. Don't get me wrong, there was still plenty of business talk, contact details were swapped, and there were lots of potential collaborations in the pipeline by the end of the night. But it was all done openly, honestly, and with a lot of good humour.”

Not only did I get to meet and build better bonds with my wonderful clients and the GBC team, but I also met Thomas Nadin of 'Few and Far'. We chatted about our mutual love of content so intently that I lost track of time and ended up leaving an hour and a half later than planned! I've since had a meeting with Thomas and his business partner Colin, and there are some exciting creative collaborations on the cards between us and fellow GBC member Will Saunders of Good Will Studios.

So, if you'd class your company as 'good', or if you're considering evolving your mainstream business into a purpose-driven one, don't think twice: The Good Business Club events are for you! You'll hear about the incredible value offered by The Good Business Club membership, enjoy thought-provoking conversation, meet like-minded business owners and leaders, have a few laughs, and all while enjoying a glass or two of your favourite tipple if you fancy it. What's not to love? Get on down!“
